An escaped sheep was found with 60 pounds of wool.

Shrek the sheep ran away and hid in a cave in New Zealand for 6 years. When Shrek was finally found in 2004, the sheep had gone unsheared for so long that it had accumulated 60 pounds of wool on its body, enough to make 20 suits! The sheep became famous and even got to meet the Prime Minister. Shrek finally passed away last month at the age of 16.

Soup is hiring!

Are you creative "just because", develop your own projects, hungry for new approaches and do not fear to leave well-travelled paths? Do you feel inspired by next-to-impossible problems? Are you honest, straightforward and speak your mind? You like to finish projects and are a reliable colleague, that keeps deadlines and promises? Do you appreciate a userbase that sometimes gets ahead of you in terms of creativity, and generally, awesomeness?

If you are that kind of person, and your experience fits to one of these two descriptions, we'd really like to hear from you.

a) Javascript developer (m/f)

We are looking for someone to take care of a large amount of client-side JS code, that is used and needed to fuel the product. All aspects, from simple bug fixing to the general architecture, technology choice and product development will be part of your work. If you have already done work with either Python or Ruby (on Rails) this is great, but not necessary.

b) Operations Generalist (m/f)

Soup needs someone that takes care of a growing stack of servers and software components in a holistic fashion, meaning that you really care how all the machines are doing, what we could do to improve speed and uptime, while at the same time growing the service and the userbase. You'll need to move terabytes of data, control multiple instances of our application and some cloud knowledge would come in handy too. Familiarity with PostgreSQL is required, experience with scaling  (replication, etc.).

You'll be joining a team of three in Vienna, Austria and be an equal when it comes to shaping the future of the product and company. The position is competitively remunerated. You are not required to speak German, but your English should be adequate for elaborate technical discussions, knowledge transfer and documentation.

Our general tech stack involves many of the latest and greatest in web development, from RoR to Python, JavaScript/"HTML5", PostgreSQL, Redis, Memcache, Varnish and many others. See for yourself!

- Familiarity with Soup and/or competing products as a user
- Activity in open source projects, user groups, hacker communities, etc.
- Startup affinity, familiarity with the "lean startup" methodology, metrics-driven development, agile development practices, etc.
- Front end and UI design, marketing or SEO skills
- Immediate availability

We ♥ diversity: Women, minorities, disabled people and members of other underrepresented groups will be given precedence. Please do apply.

To apply, email team@soup.io. No need for formalities, provide a personal introduction and links to your work instead.
